Celebrating 1K downloads: A milestone for MazikMail.
Since its launch, MazikMail has been gaining traction, and recently, the platform hit an exciting 1,000+ downloads milestone! I caught up with Prince Masuku to discuss this achievement and the journey so far.
First, for those who don’t know - Prince Masuku, originally from East London, has always been passionate about technology and its power to transform industries. His journey into coding began unexpectedly in 2021 when he was working as a Teaching Assistant at Aqua Vista School. A pivotal moment came when his principal sent him to attend a Tangible Africa workshop, where he was introduced to coding through an engaging educational game.
"I rigorously played the coding game with my little brother after the workshop. I had an interest in coding before, but this game helped me understand it better and inspired me to dig deeper into the world of programming," recalls Masuku.
This newfound passion led him to explore the Java programming language, and through relentless dedication, he developed MazikMail, an app that is now available on Google PlayStore. His vision? To bridge the gap between independent musicians and industry gatekeepers, making it easier for artists to gain exposure and recognition.
How’s the app and sign-ups going since you launched the app, bro? “We’re on over 1,000 downloads so far! It’s awesome!”
And how do you feel about reaching the 1K milestone downloads? “I feel ecstatic about the downloads because it validates that there is a market for such a service and that people are willing to take a look at the product I put together.”
Where do you think the app is needed the most - Eastern Cape and Western Cape? Are the numbers from those provinces showing interest, or is there still more work to be done? “I think the app is needed most by artists in the middle tier, where they just need a push for their music. They likely already have radio-ready music, and MazikMail gives them a platform to submit it easily. It also works for established artists looking to resubmit old catalogs or test out new work.
"In terms of numbers, Gauteng and Western Cape are leading, followed by KZN. The Eastern Cape is lagging a bit, so yes, there’s still more groundwork to be done to reach both users and media platforms to formally inform and engage them with the app.”
Here’s why MazikMail is a game-changer for musicians: For years, upcoming musicians have faced significant challenges when trying to break into the music industry. Limited access to radio play, media coverage, and industry connections has kept many talented artists from reaching a broader audience. MazikMail is changing that narrative by offering a direct submission platform that gives artists an edge.

With MazikMail, musicians can:
✅ Get their music played on prestigious radio stations
✅ Secure features in well-known blogs, newspapers, and magazines
✅ Connect with DJs who can spin their tracks in clubs and events
✅ Increase their chances of being noticed by industry professionals
One of MazikMail’s standout features is open tracking, allowing users to see when their emails are read - giving musicians real-time insights into their submissions.
One can advertise their music on MazikMail: MazikMail also offers an exciting advertising opportunity for artists looking to gain maximum exposure.
For just R10,000, artists can:
🎥 Get regular views from close to 1,000 users.
📌 Have their music video featured on the app for three months.
